She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’


‘ “But I know where you are and when you come and go and how you rage against me.


‘None of us, my lord the king,’ said one of his officers, ‘but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.’


Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.


Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll – are they not in your record?


The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.


The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.


‘But I know where you are and when you come and go and how you rage against me.


Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and he told me to say: ‘This is what the Lord says: that is what you are saying, you leaders in Israel, but I know what is going through your mind.


‘ “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: you are the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel. At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them.


‘Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?’


Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, ‘Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?


Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and made him stand beside him.


Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.


And when many disasters and calamities come on them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath.’
