Then the Spirit came on Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said: ‘We are yours, David! We are with you, son of Jesse! Success, success to you, and success to those who help you, for your God will help you.’ So David received them and made them leaders of his raiding bands.


Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.


Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.


I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good.


You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.


He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.


my God on whom I can rely. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.


But do not kill them, Lord our shield, or my people will forget. In your might uproot them and bring them down.
