The king commanded Joab, Abishai and Ittai, ‘Be gentle with the young man Absalom for my sake.’ And all the troops heard the king giving orders concerning Absalom to each of the commanders.


A man in the crowd answered, ‘Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.


Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.


I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children.


Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.


My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you,


He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here.


To Timothy my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.


Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.


I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel.


I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
