‘You are also instructed to tell them, “Do this: take some carts from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come.


So the sons of Israel did this. Joseph gave them carts, as Pharaoh had commanded, and he also gave them provisions for their journey.


When they arrived at the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings towards the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.


‘Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.


And they will bring all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord – on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,’ says the Lord. ‘They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.


‘Now then, I will crush you as a cart crushes when loaded with grain.
