because they had not met the Israelites with food and water but had hired Balaam to call a curse down on them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.)


My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.


These are the amounts of the materials used for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the covenant law, which were recorded at Moses’ command by the Levites under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron, the priest.


You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.


You are as beautiful as Tirzah, my darling, as lovely as Jerusalem, as majestic as troops with banners.


Live in temporary shelters for seven days: all native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters


As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the Lord remove him from the tents of Jacob – even though he brings an offering to the Lord Almighty.


So the Israelites did everything the Lord commanded Moses; that is the way they camped under their standards, and that is the way they set out, each of them with their clan and family.


When Balaam looked out and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came on him


the prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened:


‘Like valleys they spread out, like gardens beside a river, like aloes planted by the Lord, like cedars beside the waters.


Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights.’


But I would not listen to Balaam, so he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you out of his hand.
