He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel.


He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the Lord.


But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations.


My people who are crushed on the threshing-floor, I tell you what I have heard from the Lord Almighty, from the God of Israel.


Then the hordes of all the nations that fight against Ariel, that attack her and her fortress and besiege her, will be as it is with a dream, with a vision in the night –


‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.


For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.


‘You are my war club, my weapon for battle – with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms,


This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Daughter Babylon is like a threshing-floor at the time it is trampled; the time to harvest her will soon come.’


I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.


His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing-floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.’
