For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.’


Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.


‘See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.


‘Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.


And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.


‘This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.’


Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.’


‘But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.


‘His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”


Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.’


He went away a second time and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.’


Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.’


And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,


He replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.’


Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, “Sir, open the door for us.” ‘But he will answer, “I don’t know you or where you come from.”


Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.’

If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.’

In his defence Jesus said to them, ‘My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.’


For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.’


Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.


equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.


Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,


Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.


For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.


As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.


that one “will rule them with an iron sceptre and will dash them to pieces like pottery” – just as I have received authority from my Father.


‘Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.


The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
