‘But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.


‘ “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord.


He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.


‘So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud labourers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,’ says the Lord Almighty.


‘Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them.


Do to others as you would have them do to you.


The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.


If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself,’ you are doing right.
