no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.


‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?


Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?


So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?”


‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things,


‘When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say,


Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.


‘Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.


John answered, ‘Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.’


Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.


Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
