I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.


Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.


‘ “Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.


But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, ‘I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.’


When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.


Then Pilate asked him, ‘Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?’


But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.


He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.


and he went back inside the palace. ‘Where do you come from?’ he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.


For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings.
