‘When anyone wrongs their neighbour and is required to take an oath and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple,


when a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.


‘Woe to you, blind guides! You say, “If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.”


You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?


You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?


But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God) –


Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is required to obey the whole law.
