33 ‘Listen to another parable: there was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall round it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place.

Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!


and say, “Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and people of Jerusalem. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: listen! I am going to bring a disaster on this place that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle.


I had planted you like a choice vine of sound and reliable stock. How then did you turn against me into a corrupt, wild vine?


Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: ‘There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.


‘Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:


‘For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.


‘What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, “Son, go and work today in the vineyard.”


‘The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.


It’s like a man going away: he leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.


He said: ‘A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return.


‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.


Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.
