The man said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?’ Then Moses was afraid and thought, ‘What I did must have become known.’


He told them, “You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.”


Jesus replied, ‘I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.


Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings.


In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, ‘Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me.


Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.


One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.


They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: ‘By what power or what name did you do this?’


‘But the man who was ill-treating the other pushed Moses aside and said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us?
