When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him.


At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.


And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.


When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.


Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.


Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’


Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.


But he said to me, “You will become pregnant and have a son. Now then, drink no wine or other fermented drink and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite of God from the womb until the day of his death.” ’


And she made a vow, saying, ‘Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.’


Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, ‘After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the Lord, and he will live there always.’


After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord at Shiloh.


But Samuel was ministering before the Lord – a boy wearing a linen ephod.
