He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.


‘Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.


And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.


‘If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.


For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.


‘This, then, is how you should pray: ‘ “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,


‘Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.


While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.


When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’


Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.


‘Make level paths for your feet,’ so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.


The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
