The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.


And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, “You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.” Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.


Jesus replied: ‘ “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”


‘Then he said to his servants, “The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come.


‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple.


But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage,


Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.’


that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father. Whoever does not honour the Son does not honour the Father, who sent him.


He said of his father and mother, “I have no regard for them.” He did not recognise his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant.
