Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.


‘But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things:


I wrote for them the many things of my law, but they regarded them as something foreign.


they are not to “honour their father or mother” with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.


then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother.


Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, ‘Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.


(The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.


So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, ‘Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?’


And he continued, ‘You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!

and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.


and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.
