Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.


Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.


A man called Barabbas was in prison with the rebels who had committed murder in the uprising.


‘Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?’ asked Pilate,
