So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.


He answered, ‘Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?


‘Haven’t you read,’ he replied, ‘that at the beginning the Creator “made them male and female,”


‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘have you never read, ‘ “From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise” ?’


Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘ “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes” ?


But about the resurrection of the dead – have you not read what God said to you,


Now about the dead rising – have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”?


‘What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.


‘When you see “the abomination that causes desolation” standing where it does not belong – let the reader understand – then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.


He answered, ‘Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?
