‘Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.


After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax came to Peter and asked, ‘Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?’


‘From others,’ Peter answered. ‘Then the children are exempt,’ Jesus said to him.


‘Teacher,’ said John, ‘we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.’


Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.


‘Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.


‘No-one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.’


Therefore I want you to know that no-one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, ‘Jesus be cursed,’ and no-one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by the Holy Spirit.


The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not enquire of the Lord.
