One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.


But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.


When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him.


Peter said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’


‘You don’t know what you are asking,’ Jesus said. ‘Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptised with the baptism I am baptised with?’


Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’


While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.


‘Master,’ said John, ‘we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.’


Philip said, ‘Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.’


For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
