Then he added, ‘I have something to say to you.’ ‘You may say it,’ she replied.


My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.


‘A son honours his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honour due to me? If I am a master, where is the respect due to me?’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘It is you priests who show contempt for my name. ‘But you ask, “How have we shown contempt for your name?”


Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ and kissed him.


Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?”


A certain ruler asked him, ‘Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’


Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, ‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?


Jesus answered them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill.


But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shrivelled hand, ‘Get up and stand in front of everyone.’ So he got up and stood there.


When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, ‘If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is – that she is a sinner.’


‘Two people owed money to a certain money-lender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.


‘You call me “Teacher” and “Lord”, and rightly so, for that is what I am.


Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, ‘Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me”?


Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.’


He came to Jesus at night and said, ‘Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no-one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.’
