and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.’


And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.’


The sceptre will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.


A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.


Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.


‘But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.’


I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord Almighty.


Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.

He replied, ‘If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it will obey you.


And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says.


But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.’


The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: ‘Before the cock crows today, you will disown me three times.’


and saying, ‘It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.’


When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, ‘Don’t cry.’


When the men came to Jesus, they said, ‘John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” ’


(This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay ill, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.)


Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptising more disciples than John –


The woman said, ‘I know that Messiah’ (called Christ) ‘is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.’


Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.


Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. ‘Go, look over the land,’ he said, ‘especially Jericho.’ So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.


And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.’
