who say, “Keep away; don’t come near me, for I am too sacred for you!” Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.


Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word; ‘Your own people who hate you, and exclude you because of my name, have said, “Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy!” Yet they will be put to shame.


On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.


You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.


Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.


So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. ‘What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?


Everyone will hate you because of me.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.


But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.’
