‘What have you lacked here that you want to go back to your own country?’ Pharaoh asked. ‘Nothing,’ Hadad replied, ‘but do let me go!’


The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.


Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.


Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

He said to them, ‘But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.


He told them: ‘Take nothing for the journey – no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.


as it is written: ‘The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.’


He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.
