His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.


I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.


‘This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself.’


While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.


Jesus replied, ‘Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness.’ Then John consented.


At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised by John in the Jordan.


Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?’ And they took offence at him.


They told him, ‘Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.’


But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.


When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.


He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read,


Jesus said to them, ‘Surely you will quote this proverb to me: “Physician, heal yourself!” And you will tell me, “Do here in your home town what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.” ’


Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.


To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
