But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.’


‘The man with two bags of gold also came. “Master,” he said, “you entrusted me with two bags of gold: see, I have gained two more.”


Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop – some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.’


So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. “Put this money to work,” he said, “until I come back.”


‘ “Well done, my good servant!” his master replied. “Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.”


‘His master answered, “You take charge of five cities.”


For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
