‘But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, “This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.”


Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.


Jesus then began to speak to them in parables: ‘A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall round it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place.


After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.


He went on to tell the people this parable: ‘A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.


While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.


‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’


For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.’


For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.


so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.


who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand – with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.


‘Look, he is coming with the clouds,’ and ‘every eye will see him, even those who pierced him’; and all peoples on earth ‘will mourn because of him.’ So shall it be! Amen.
