By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.


Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?


He thought to himself, “What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.”


And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’ ”


‘This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich towards God.’


Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!


‘For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, “Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,


And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says.


Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.


Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’


Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’
