Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased.


David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.


He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’


‘I am against you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.’


The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them, slain, over to Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.’
