1 After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.

When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.


‘But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, “This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.”


The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.


Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.


So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.


This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.


Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias),


Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, ‘Where is he?’


But no-one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.


Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?’


At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, ‘Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?


The Jews said to one another, ‘Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?


I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word.


As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things.


how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
