10 To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so that they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.


I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.


I long for your salvation, Lord, and your law gives me delight.


Your statutes are my delight; they are my counsellors.


Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.


Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.


Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.


I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.’


But Moses said to the Lord, ‘If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?’


You have seen many things, but you pay no attention; your ears are open, but you do not listen.’


Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?


‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: go and tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, “Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?” declares the Lord.


Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, circumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done – burn with no-one to quench it.


Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear:


While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.


But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.”


Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the wilderness in distant places. For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.’

The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.


The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.


Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, ‘What? Are we blind too?’


‘You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: you always resist the Holy Spirit!


Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ When he had said this, he fell asleep.


For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;


But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.


He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.


For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather round them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.


By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
