And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.’


Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength! Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?


The Lord will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.


He saw that there was no-one, he was appalled that there was no-one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.


The Lord has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: ‘Never again will I give your grain as food for your enemies, and never again will foreigners drink the new wine for which you have toiled;


At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.


Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.


Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, ‘We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.


Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God –


He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.


This was to fulfil the word of Isaiah the prophet: ‘Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?’


For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.


but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
