May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.


The Lord will write in the register of the peoples: ‘This one was born in Zion.’


Zion will be delivered with justice, her penitent ones with righteousness.


In that day the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.


And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.


‘Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born.


Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendour, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.


And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.’


Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land for ever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendour.


They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted.


My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.


‘This is the law of the temple: all the surrounding area on top of the mountain will be most holy. Such is the law of the temple.


‘Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, dwell in Zion, my holy hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.


But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and Jacob will possess his inheritance.


I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.


Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honoured his name.


However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’


When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honoured the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.


And what was God’s answer to him? ‘I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.’


So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.


For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love


Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.


Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.


The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
