He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark.


Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground.


Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.


‘Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests?


The fugitives who escape will flee to the mountains. Like doves of the valleys, they will all moan, each for their own sins.


‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.


‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’


Among those nations you will find no repose, no resting-place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you an anxious mind, eyes weary with longing, and a despairing heart.
