Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.

Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.


The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.


But Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord.


Then he cried out to the Lord, ‘Lord my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?’


The sons of Judah: Er, Onan and Shelah. These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua. (Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.)

But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.


Er and Onan were sons of Judah, but they died in Canaan.


If one person sins against another, God may mediate for the offender; but if anyone sins against the Lord, who will intercede for them?’ His sons, however, did not listen to their father’s rebuke, for it was the Lord’s will to put them to death.
