Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!


Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.


Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, made their plans. So they bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.


One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.


At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.


Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,


The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;


Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: ‘Rulers and elders of the people!


But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honoured by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.


So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
