Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.


And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.


The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.


He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.


When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honoured the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.


At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed.


They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch,


So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.


As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.


The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.’


Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.


After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.


With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all


But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.


In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.


So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.


Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.


All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.


because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.


And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.


Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: ‘Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.


For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
