They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures for ever; their horn will be lifted high in honour.


Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.


Jesus answered, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’


I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.


When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ‘You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.’


But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.’


The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.


that there was no needy person among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales


and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.


There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the Lord’s people.


As it is written: ‘They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures for ever.’


If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
