You will say, ‘How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!


Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.


You will leave your name for my chosen ones to use in their curses; the Sovereign Lord will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.


But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so, they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved.


‘Look at the nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.


The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.


The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, ‘He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.’


For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘ “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”’


‘Then the Lord said to me, “Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.”  ’


Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.”


For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.’


in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.


For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
