Now Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rekab; they were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite from the tribe of Benjamin – Beeroth is considered part of Benjamin,


The king then took an oath: ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered me out of every trouble,


who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,


He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.


Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story – those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,


The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.


The Lord will rescue his servants; no-one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.


Come near and rescue me; deliver me because of my foes.


My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you – I whom you have delivered.


As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble.’
