You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me.


At the king’s command they removed from the quarry large blocks of high-grade stone to provide a foundation of dressed stone for the temple.


The Lord says to my lord: ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.’


I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed.


‘Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘Not a root or a branch will be left to them.


Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,’ says the Lord Almighty.


When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, ‘Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.’ So they came forward and placed their feet on their necks.
