11 ‘So I advise you: let all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba – as numerous as the sand on the seashore – be gathered to you, with you yourself leading them into battle.

Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba.


I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,


Now muster the rest of the troops and besiege the city and capture it. Otherwise I shall take the city, and it will be named after me.’


So the king said to Joab and the army commanders with him, ‘Go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and enrol the fighting men, so that I may know how many there are.’


and transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and establish David’s throne over Israel and Judah from Dan to Beersheba.’


Then Ben-Hadad sent another message to Ahab: ‘May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if enough dust remains in Samaria to give each of my men a handful.’


The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.


The Lord is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.


They came out with all their troops and a large number of horses and chariots – a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore.


Then all Israel from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came together as one and assembled before the Lord in Mizpah.


The Philistines assembled to fight Israel, with three thousand chariots, six thousand charioteers, and soldiers as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Michmash, east of Beth Aven.


And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognised that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.
