In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the foreigner and ill-treated the fatherless and the widow.


‘He will be succeeded by a contemptible person who has not been given the honour of royalty. He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue.


They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, ‘You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?’


For God said, “Honour your father and mother” and “Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.”


Paul replied, ‘Brothers, I did not realise that he was the high priest; for it is written: “Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.”’


Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honour the emperor.


This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;
