Then one of them said, ‘I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.’ Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.


She said to Elijah, ‘What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?’


Then the woman said to Elijah, ‘Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.’


‘What have I done wrong,’ asked Obadiah, ‘that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be put to death?


The people of the city said to Elisha, ‘Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.’


Then Elisha said, ‘Call her.’ So he called her, and she stood in the doorway.


But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.


‘Did I ask you for a son, my lord?’ she said. ‘Didn’t I tell you, “Don’t raise my hopes”?’


in my alarm I said, ‘Everyone is a liar.’


But the angel said to him: ‘Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.
