He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.


Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.


You say, ‘I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.


‘Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, you Israelites! Listen, royal house! This judgment is against you: you have been a snare at Mizpah, a net spread out on Tabor.


do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into exile, and Bethel will be reduced to nothing.’


On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover.


Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.’ So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.


He had thirty sons, who rode thirty donkeys. They controlled thirty towns in Gilead, which to this day are called Havvoth Jair.


He had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy donkeys. He led Israel for eight years.


‘You who ride on white donkeys, sitting on your saddle blankets, and you who walk along the road, consider


Samuel summoned the people of Israel to the Lord at Mizpah


Then Samuel said to the people, ‘Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingship.’


Then Samuel said, ‘Assemble all Israel at Mizpah, and I will intercede with the Lord for you.’
