1 Samuel 10:3 - New International Version (Anglicised)

3 ‘Then you will go on from there until you reach the great tree of Tabor. Three men going up to worship God at Bethel will meet you there. One will be carrying three young goats, another three loaves of bread, and another a skin of wine.

He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.


and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.’


Then God said to Jacob, ‘Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.’


Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.’


You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name.

Along with their fellowship offering of thanksgiving they are to present an offering with thick loaves of bread made with yeast.


It turned east from Sarid towards the sunrise to the territory of Kisloth Tabor and went on to Daberath and up to Japhia.


The boundary touched Tabor, Shahazumah and Beth Shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. There were sixteen towns and their villages.


The Israelites went up to Bethel and enquired of God. They said, ‘Who of us is to go up first to fight against the Benjaminites?’ The Lord replied, ‘Judah shall go first.’

Then he asked Zebah and Zalmunna, ‘What kind of men did you kill at Tabor?’ ‘Men like you,’ they answered, ‘each one with the bearing of a prince.’


They will greet you and offer you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from them.
