And it happened when the king dwelt in his house, and when Jehovah had given him rest round about from all his enemies,


the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.


And David the king stood up on his feet and said, Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building.


I have sworn, and I raised it, that I will keep Your righteous judgments.


until I find out a place for Jehovah, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.
