Gather yourselves together, and hear, sons of Jacob, and listen to Israel your father.


Come, listen to me, my sons; I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.


to know wisdom and instruction; to recognize the words of understanding;


My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother;


A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a scorner does not hear rebuke.


Hear advice, and receive instruction, so that you may be wise in your latter end.


Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to My knowledge.


My son, listen to my wisdom; bow your ear to my understanding;


Say to wisdom, You are my sister; and call understanding your kinsman,


So we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he has commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;


Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
