2 And he prayed to Jehovah and said, Please, O Jehovah, was this not my saying when I was still in my land? On account of this I fled before to Tarshish. For I knew that You are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and One who repents over calamity.

And he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he begged for his life, that he might die. And he said, It is enough. O Jehovah, take away my life. For I am no better than my fathers.


Jehovah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and rich in mercy.


Jehovah is gracious and full of pity; slow to anger, and of great mercy.


But He, full of pity, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them; yea, many times He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath.


But You, O God, are God full of pity, and gracious, long-suffering, and rich in mercy and truth.


For You, Lord, are good and ready to forgive, and rich in mercy to all those who call on You.


Return, O Jehovah! How long? And give pity to Your servants.


And Jehovah repented as to the evil which He spoke of doing to His people.


if that nation, against whom I have spoken, will turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.


O Jehovah, You have deceived me, and I was deceived. You are stronger than I, and You have prevailed. I am in derision all the day; everyone laughs at me.


So now make your ways and your doings good, and obey the voice of Jehovah your God. And Jehovah will repent of the evil that He has spoken against you.


If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and will not pull you down. And I will plant you and will not pluck you up. For I repent of the evil that I have done to you.

But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah. And he went down to Joppa. And he found a ship going to Tarshish. And he gave its fare, and went down into it, in order to go with them to Tarshish, away from the sight of Jehovah.


And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. And God was compassionate over the evil that He had said to do to them, and He did not do it.


Who knows? He may repent, and God may have pity and turn away from the glow of His anger, so that we do not perish.


Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.


But he, willing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?


For Jehovah your God is a merciful God; He will not forsake you, nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
